On Saturday, I was supposed to host a field trip for Iowa Young Birders at Lake Wapello State Park. No-one signed up, but I decided to go anyway because I’ve been seeing a lot of waterfowl movement lately.
This is the time of year when I get calls and messages of people reporting their signs of the coming spring to me. Most often it’s that someone has spotted their first American Robins in their yard. Sometimes it’s Eastern Bluebirds.
This week was the coldest week of the winter here in Southern Iowa. Windchills reached -36°F. Needless to say, I did not go birding very much this week.
