Every night at 10pm, during the four-ish weeks of Ramadan, mheibes fans crowd into Al-Shaab stadium in Baghdad. The place is sprawling, monumental, its grand brutal slabs designed by Le Corbusier in the more optimistic 1960s.
I’d planned to write about the role of cheating in mheibes, the mind-reading national sport of Iraq. It’s a lively topic but will have to wait until the next post.
