The Jolly Postman (Or Other People’s Letters) by Janet & Allen Ahlberg (1986) and The Jolly Christmas Postman (1991) are favorite books from my childhood. It’s been a delight to share them with my children.
I first heard of the husband and wife writing and illustrating team of Ingri (1904-1980) and Edgar (1898-1986) D'Aulaire from their Book of Trolls (If holdermaidens don’t scare your children into getting married in a church…!)
I first heard of Elsa Beskow from Tara Thieke's excellent list of wonder-inspiring books for children.
