Blake Smith is a historian, critic and translator, currently at the Center for Advanced Study in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Aryeh Neier is president emeritus of the Open Society Foundations. Before that, he served for 12 years as executive director of Human Rights Watch, which he founded in 1978. He worked 15 years at the ACLU, including 8 as national executive director.
Mario Arriagada is a writer and political analyst based in Mexico City and Brussels. His research ranges from political culture to foreign affairs. He is a member of the Ideas Collaborative at the Open Society Foundations.
