The core conceit in this story is an idea I’ve toyed with off and on in different ways over the years, never quite coming up with a compelling narrative around it.
It’s possible I wrote this entire story because of the soft pun of the title; I’m dumb like that.
A while back there were several Internet-based puzzles like NotPron that led you down a winding path of puzzles.
The inspiration for this story is a combination of my own college housing experience and my own sense of always being just slightly more naive than I assume I am.
