How is this list put together?
Every week Reletter extracts the outbound links from the newsletter issues published across 7m+ newsletters. Links are cleaned up so the same page only counts once (tracking parameters are stripped and redirects unwrapped), then ranked by how many distinct newsletters cited them.
Why rank by newsletters instead of total links?
Ranking by the number of distinct newsletters citing a link measures how widely it resonated across independent writers. A single newsletter repeating the same link many times cannot push it up the list.
What links are left out?
Links from a newsletter to its own site, sharing and subscribe buttons, images and other boilerplate are excluded. So are sponsor links that repeat across most issues of the same newsletter, since those are paid placements rather than citations.
When does it update?
A new list is published every Monday morning covering the previous Monday to Sunday. Once published, each week is frozen and stays available on its own page.
