With crystals in his eyes
And skin black as coal.
His ribs shone through
The holes in his suit
And his branch for a cane
Carried the trip of each step
Until he turned the hill’s corner
To a stranger’s sinking pickup...

Or dance at the edge
Of my fingertips
Like every other
