Gary’s sick of fake sunsets and dead-end feelings. Then he notices a girl fixing up a shop window. She’s more real than daylight. He figures SYNTHETICA, the emotion manager AI in his head, might feed him the right words.
Death probably tastes metallic. Gary imagines it like a frantic electric current. If you try to visualize it, you see a patch of panic. Something red and dirty, and wet. He likes it.
