节目播出后，张爱玲的录音被海内外广泛转发，很多人问我寻找它的过程。
我在做的是视频节目，寻找一手的音视频材料是基本需求：张爱玲1995年去世，那时录音、录像已经普及，按理说应该留下过记录。
但我在网上搜的结果显示：目前没有来源可靠的张爱玲本人录音或录像。
我去问她工作过的加州大学伯克利分校东亚图书馆，负责人回复说没有。
我查南加州大学张爱玲的遗稿目录，没有发现线索。
我查了张爱玲1961年10月访问台湾期间，是否留下影片或声音...
张爱玲：凡是不肯随波逐流的人，都要耐得住那份寂寞。
张爱玲在1952年离开了中国大陆。柯灵说，如果她没有走，到文革的时候，一百个张爱玲也压碎了。所以很多年之后，人们说张爱玲是走得最及时的人。
但是，为什么1949年她没有走？为什么她会说：“我用了三年才下定了决心”？

1952年，她出走香港。
这三年，是张爱玲个人经历中的巨大转折，也是理解中华人民共和国成立初期政治与文艺关系的一段重要历史：土地改革、镇压反革命、抗美援朝相继展开，毛泽东批判《武训传》，引发全国知识分子思想改造、三反五反运动持续改变她生存的文化环境。
她与导演桑弧的恋情，也从相互扶持到最终分离。
张爱玲留在上海的最后三年，映射出政治如何深刻影响文学——一个国家的心灵。
