This dabbling duck is primarily resident to Mexico, but some members of the species live in the western United States and travel south for the winter.
A small to medium-sized duck, the Long-tailed duck lives on the sea and tundra regions of the far north.
Tufted Ducks are a small diving duck species. Along with black and white feathers and a bright golden eye, they feature a tassel of feathers on the back of their heads. Both males and females have this tassel.
The other three species of steamer ducks can’t fly, but this one can. Found in southern South America, the flying steamer is similar in appearance and size to other steamer ducks, but with the added bonus of being able to take to the air.
