I knew before I came to see you.
there are stories that survive
only as long as they remain unspoken —
once released, they thin out,
fade in the open air,
collapse under the weight
of what we are meant to be.

a poem i wrote
it was one of those afternoons
when the light
rain drew lines,
tiny dots,
trembling
on the glass.
look at me, you said
look at me.
so typical of me, not lifting
my head,
unable to meet
your eyes
after
your fingers...

Deep down, I think what truly scares me is becoming the poet who stopped writing poetry. Becoming the poet who, when asked what she does, thinks I am a poet but answers something else. A designer. A student. An academic.
