以前、僕が文章を書いていて、よくいただいていた言葉だ。
誰かの役に立てた。
自分の書いたものを読んで、何かを受け取ってくれた人がいる。
もちろん、嬉しかった。
僕は長い間、読者の役に立つことを考えながら文章を書いていた。
何を書けばいいのか。
どんな情報が求められているのか。
読んだ人に、何を持ち帰ってもらえるのか。
そんなことを考えていた。
僕は元新聞記者だ。
情報を集めて、整理して、人に伝える。
そういう仕事をしてきた。

今度は、僕が応える番だった。
毎月、同じようなコメントをくれる人がいた。

ほとんど、毎回同じ内容だった。
僕が運営しているYouTubeチャンネルの一つは、もう8年くらい続いている。
登録者は3万人以上いる。
収益もある。
でも、長く続けるうちに、僕の中にあった燃えたぎるような熱意は、少しずつ弱くなっていた。
登録者も徐々に減った。
再生回数は、全盛期の10分の1くらいまで落ちた。

第一回の台本読み合わせをした。
2027年1月16日に東京で舞台を主催することになった。

台本は、すでに書き終えている。
でも、この日はまだ読み合わせだった。
本番の衣装があるわけではない。
細かな動きも、表情も、演出も、まだ完成していない。
演者さんが、僕の書いたセリフを読む。
それだけだった。
それなのに、鳥肌が立った。

1万人の、その先がなかった。

それは、僕が自分で決めた目標だった。

そこから約5か月で1万人を超える。
僕はそう公言した。
自分の中でも、かなり思い切った宣言だった。
言ってしまったからには、やるしかない。

あのときの達成感は大きかった。

嬉しかった。
