Each book here was given as a Christmas gift between 1887 and 1952.
It makes me feel warm and fuzzy to know that these books were first given as gifts between 70 and 140 years ago.
Most of the inscriptions are simple but moving, as above...
Today, I touched a small ceramic figure made 1500 or so years ago. It was awesome. It felt like touching the passage of time.
This is an artifact of the Tumaco-La Tolita culture dating somewhere between 500 BC and 500 AD.
