Once upon a time I was sifting through long strands of grass pulled up from the yard, sorting them by hand to make sure they were safe for my darling guinea pigs to munch. In the midst of such a tedious task, the Muse struck.

So far the poems I’ve shared here have been - well, old. They ripened on my mental shelf for at least a few years, acquiring a firm texture and a complex, nutty flavor. Perhaps you even traced a few veins of delicious blue mold.

I find it fascinating to Spock-worthy proportions how a poem can conceal and reveal so many layers of meaning. What the words say and what they leave unsaid; how the rhythm flows or breaks; why rhymes enhance certain ideas and dilute others...
