一般時候，我是說一般時候，書封的書名字體都會比作者名字大，或者大小相同，設計也會比較顯眼，大家都會拼"War and Peace"，但托爾斯泰的英文怎樣拼？要想一想......Google一下。英國作家Martin Amis就不一樣了，出版社Vintage在2019年將他所有的小說作品重新設計出版，白底黑字設計上那個大大的"Amis"很難不惹人注意，字體足足比書名大上一倍，仿佛在告訴讀者，不用管哪部作品，認住"Amis"這個嘜頭就可以了。

說到美國酒鬼作家首先想到的當然是海明威，晚年受抑鬱所苦，最後舉槍轟烈自殺；另一個是Raymond Carver，文青最愛，不知是否與飲酒有關，肺癌過身時才50歲，我讀過他的What we talk about when we talk about love，讀不出一個所以然，現在連一丁點印象都沒有。夾在他倆中間還有一個Charles Bukowski，他也差點飲到死，幸好救回來，到70多歲才走，對酗酒的人來說算長壽了。
