Startling, water snake on lake,
illuminated above and below,
cast golden shadow ripples while
traveling to shore.
Three deer grazing in hollow,
sunlight against green perfected,
engaged in gentle munching,
feast spread before them....
Blinked, eagle was gone.
Resumed fallen posture, looked down;
next day back at school
studied for production’s mill.
Education’s one purpose,
conformity to society’s expectation;
heart’s desire, foolish affectation;
looking up betray...
Rounded corner on heathered moor,
halted. Coiled in full sunlight,
black diamonds on grey back,
alarmed at appearance of one long feared.
Slithering, turned gaze
towards this startled face.
“Why look at me as your enemy?
I freed you...
Before any clock struck,
ere passing sun’s shadow marked,
the man and woman sat under leafy tree
as day cooled.
Looking down from high spot,
river never vanishing or flooding,
world in complete equilibrium,
humanity’s intended home....
Out of the depths were we called,
kindred descendants from creator;
shared common origin,
lived between water, land.
After making lake appearance,
stroking powerfully towards shore,
brought into thought remembrance
of earliest place...
