デイヴィッド・ホックニーの思い出

20-21世紀を代表する画家であるデヴィッド・ホックニーが亡くなった。

ついに亡くなってしまった。とても悲しい。身内を失ったような喪失感がある。
妻が帰宅する前にこのニュースを見て、ソファで文字通りすすり泣いていたら、猫に慰められた。

ホックニーは僕にとって特別なアーティストだ。
とても長い時間をホックニーの作品を鑑賞することに費やし、彼の作品と著作からとても多くのことを学んだ。
その影響は、僕の人生のコンパスを何度か傾けるくらい大きなものだと思う。

他人事にできないなにか———ロン・ミュエク展がなぜ「最高」だったか

森美術館で開催中のロン・ミュエク展を観に行ってきた。最高だったのでインスタに「最高」と気軽に書いたら、友人のアーティストから「何が最高だったのか教えてほしい」と言われたので、せっかくなのでちゃんと言語化してみる。

はじめての室内楽リサイタル(チケット購入可能なオススメ公演を通じて)

もっぱらピアノばかり聴いている芹川ですが、妻がチェロを購入して室内楽機運も高まっているので、現在でもチケット購入可能な室内楽公演をご紹介します。

室内楽とは、ざっくり言えばソロでもオーケストラでもない小規模な器楽編成のアンサンブルです。メジャーな編成としてはピアノ・トリオや弦楽四重奏などですが、木管五重奏とかいろんなバリエーションがあります。

素晴らしい楽曲がたくさんある一方で、派手なオーケストラの協奏曲とか人気演奏家のソロ・リサイタルと比べると聴きどころがわかりにくいか...

クレーメルでつながる個人的音楽史

毎年ゴールデンウィークはラ・フォル・ジュネなどのイベントによってクラシックも少し盛り上がる。(僕はメイン会場の国際フォーラムが死ぬほど嫌いなので行くことはないけれど)

そんな中、なぜかあまり注目されることもなく来日していたのがヴァイオリンの巨匠ギドン・クレーメルです。
会場はサントリーホールだけど、大ホールではなく、その左手にある小ホール「ブルーローズ」。400席くらいしかない空間でクレーメルの室内楽を聴ける。
