さざなみ。
小さな池のある公園。
四季によって顔が変わるこの場所が好きだ。
春には桜が咲き、夏には木々の緑が水面に映る。
秋には色づいた葉が落ち、冬には冷たい風が吹き抜ける。
同じ場所なのに、来るたびに少しずつ表情が違う。
今日は、風が穏やかだった。
ベンチに腰を下ろし、ぼんやりと池を眺める。
その時、
一枚の葉っぱが落ち、小さな波が立った。
「待たないでほしい」
あの日の君の言葉を思い出す。
水面に広がる小さな輪を、私は目で追った。
やがて、波は見えなくなった。...
記憶の穴を埋める言葉。
昔使っていたスマホが、
引き出しの奥から出てきた。
充電器を探すほうが大変だった。
何年も電源を入れていなかったせいか、
画面がつくまでにずいぶん時間がかかった。
白いリンゴのマークを眺めながら、
これを使っていた頃のことを思い出してみる。
けれど、驚くほど何も浮かばない。
髪は長かっただろうか。
仕事は忙しかっただろうか。
休みの日は、何をしていたんだろう。
写真を開けば、きっと分かる。
そう思ったのに、なぜか一番に目に入ってきたメモを開いた。
意...
いってきます。

とても優しい人だから。
優しくて、心配性で、
終わったことまで何度も思い返して、
「あのとき、もっとこうしていればよかった」
なんて考えているんだろうな。
だから、ちょっと心配。
ちゃんとごはん食べてる？
ちゃんと眠ってる？
ロロがいないからって、ずっと泣いてない？
まあ、聞いたところで、
君の返事はだいたい分かるんだけど。
－－君と初めて会った日のこと。

そう言うと、君の機嫌はよくなるらしい。

「嫌なら、もう俺に触るな」
「嫌なんて思ってないけど。何でそんなに不機嫌なの？」
「俺がどんな気持ちか分かってない」
「分かってるよ」
「分かってない。俺はお前みたいに何でも素直に言えない」
「今日みたいに、そうやってぶつけてきたらいい。私は受け止めるよ」
今日の君は、珍しく荒れている。

「どうする？ 今日ここで終わりにする？」
「うざ。いつもそうやって俺に決めさせるな」

放課後の広場は、いつも騒がしい。
「先生、見て！」
「先生、こっち来て！」
「先生、あいつが取った！」
一人に返事をしている間に、 三人くらいから呼ばれる。
そんな毎日だ。
その日、校庭の隅で、
一年生の子たちがしゃがみ込んでいた。
「何してるの？」
「泥だんご！」
