香港の書店「ハンターブックス」の書店主夫婦が逮捕された。国家安全条例違反の疑いをかけられている。今春、私の友人の書店にも捜査が入った。ブックパンチの店主の逮捕も今年だった。私の香港の友達は、書店や出版関係者が多く、独立系の書店につながりの多い人ばかりだ。今回の知らせも、友人からの連絡で知った。

新しい生活での試行錯誤
フルタイムの仕事を始めてもうすぐ２ヶ月。
だいぶ慣れてきました。以前は在宅勤務のフリーランスだったので、毎日出勤していろいろな人たちの話を聞きながら仕事をすることが自分に合うのか少し不安だったけど、あまりストレスなく、毎日楽しく働いています。新しいチャレンジや試行錯誤も結構楽しい。翻訳の仕事は、書籍翻訳は完全にお休みしていますが、映画や論文の翻訳などは朝の時間に続け、今まで英語や日本語を個人的に教えていた生徒さんとのセッションも続けています。

あたりまえの、あたりまえではない日々
ノートで７歳児の絵を紹介したら、思いのほか反響があったので、１０歳児のも紹介します。どちらも、古代エジプト展を鑑賞したあとに描いた絵で、現在香港大学のギャラリーに（なぜか）展示されています。
10歳児のコメントは「スフィンクスが大好きなんだけど、大きいのをかくのは大変そうなので、小さいのにしました」。
読んだとき、吹き出しました。ほんとにあの子らしい。
