この連載の最後に、少しだけジムをつくったときの考えを書いておこうと思います。
ぼくがつくりたかったのは、
「痩せるためだけに仕方なく通う場所」
ではありませんでした。
筋トレそのものが面白くなって、
気づけば趣味になっている。
昨日より少し重いものが持てた。
前よりフォームがうまくなった。
できなかったことができるようになった。
そういう小さな成長を楽しめる場所をつくりたいと思っていました。

2023年1月1日にジムを開いてから、お客さんが来ない日が続きました。
場所はある。
設備もある。
トレーニングを教える準備もできている。
でも、お客さんがいない。
商売というものは残酷で、
どれだけ準備しても、お客さんが0人なら売上も0円です。
「本当にここに人は来るんだろうか」
そんなことも考えていたと思います。
そして1月16日。
初めてのお客さんが来ました。
