The accounts of Jesus’ passion and death all have their own similarities and differences. While the basic contours of the story are the same across all four Gospels, there are some striking differences.
The name we give this night, Maundy Thursday, comes from the Latin word “mandatum,” from which we get the English word, “Mandate.” This is the night when Jesus gave us his new command, or “mandate,” to love one another.
